Padmabushan Vempati Chinna Satyam
Padma Sonti first studied under Dr. Vempati Chinna Satyam, the world's foremost Kuchipudi guru. As founder of the celebrated Kuchipudi Art Academy, Dr. Satyam authored numerous operas, ballets, and solo items. The most famous among them include: Srinivasa Kalyanam, Haravilasam, Chandaalika, Ksheera Sagara Madanam, and Sri Krishna Parijatham. His innovativeness is unmatched, as evidenced by honors such as Padma Bhusan by the Government of India and a National Awards from the Central Sangeet Naatak Academy. Dr. Vempati Chinna Satyam is universally touted as a legendary guru whose work has renovated the Kuchipudi style.
Padmashri Shobha Naidu
Padma was also a disciple of one Kuchipudi's leading dancers, Dr. Shobha Naidu. Dr. Naidu's early master of the art led to her widespread renown across India. Especially famous for her portrayals of Padmavati and Satyabhama, Shobha Naidu excelled in performances with not only her troupe but also with other gurus. She was a cardinal dancer at the Kuchipudi art Academy and is currently committing herself to training students. Shobha Naidu is also the recipient of numerous awards such as the Nritya Choodami title and Padma Shri award.
